Misuse of statistics re teacher performance

New free resource for English teachers

A free new resource for English teachers is the Reading Australia website at www.readingaustralia.com.au

This valuable project has been initiated by the Copyright Agency and involves collaboration with the Australian Society of Authors (ASA), the Australian Association for the Teaching of English (AATE), the English Teachers Association NSW, and the Primary English Teaching Association Australia (PETAA).

It is planned that this project will be ongoing but the titles currently included in the secondary section are: Blackrock by Nick Enright, Cloudstreet by Tim Winton, Collected Poems 1943  1995, Gwen Harwood, Looking for Alibrandi by Melina Marchetta, My Brilliant Career by Miles Franklin, Stasiland by Anna Funder, Swallow the Air by Tara June Winch, The Arrival by Shaun Tan, The Boat by Nam Le, The Tall Man by Chloe Hooper. For each title there are teaching resources including a critical essay. Some books in the primary section could also be useful in the lower secondary school
