Are you one of those teachers of English who would rather not teach poetry? Are you afraid kids will turn off or be disinterested? Are you looking for ways to minimise or avoid dealing with it? Painless poetry is for you. Kathy Macdonald – an engaging presenter, and very experienced HOD with a passion for all things poetry will show you how to ease students into profound connection with place without initial reference to the ‘p’ word. The first part of the presentation shares resources and ideas for year 8 students to explore place through poetry (song, rap, and Wordsworth & co). The second hour will show you how to generate discussion and understanding for senior English students to use poetry as a springboard for the IA3. Join us for a stimulating morning of discussion, creation, and joy. This meeting will be recorded and available to registrants after the event. Registration will close on Wednesday 20 August, link for the zoom meeting will be emailed on Thursday 21 August.
