Ai: To collaborate or not

The Darling Downs branch will present a discussion on AI led by Rian Roux of University of Southern Queensland.

This interactive session will explore a set of critical questions that involve generative artificial intelligence and education. With an increasingly vast corpus of the world’s information at the fingertips of students, and custom artefacts that resemble knowledge and skills just a prompt away, the development of digital literacy, critical thinking and ethical decision making has never been more important. The opportunities afforded by intellectually ‘collaborating’ with such powerful technology also stretches the imagination and forces us into considering what activities humans in general, and students in particular, should or should not be cognitively offloading to AI tools.

Rian is a lecturer at University of Southern Queensland.
