Publications
ETAQ currently has two main print publications.
Words’Worth, the Association’s journal, is usually published four times a year. This publication is not a formally peer-reviewed academic journal and is intended primarily as a forum for English teachers to share ideas about classroom practice. Units of work, shorter lesson resources, opinions about current curriculum issues are all welcome. As far as possible, the aim is to have journal articles generated from keynote addresses and workshop sessions presented at seminars and the Annual State Conference.
Full details of a guide to contributors can be found inside the back cover of any issue of the journal. The current editors of Words’Worth are:
- Sue Grotherr, Calvary Christian College, email: Sue.Grotherr@calvarycc.qld.edu.au
- Lynda Wall, St Aidan’s School, email: lwall@staidan.qld.edu.au
English Matters is a newsletter which is mainly compiled by the President. Usually, it is 8 pages in length and distributed 5 times a year. It contains reports on a variety of issues concerning English teaching as well as information about upcoming PD events.
In addition, email is used for communication with members.
ETAQ E-pistles are email bulletins distributed on an as-required basis. In recent years around 30 issues have been distributed each year.
ETAQ members also receive copies of English in Australia. This is the journal of the Australian Association for the Teaching of English (AATE), the national English teacher body with which ETAQ is affiliated. This is a peer-reviewed academic journal which welcomes articles in any field of English, language and literacy education. The current editor is Dr Karen Moni of the School of Education at the University of Queensland. Her email address is k.moni@uq.edu.au Dr Moni is a Past President of ETAQ.
