Why are you an English teacher

Having worked in factories, offices and sheds before teaching, what I know is that teachers are some of the most generous, intelligent and challenging people you can spend your days with. So too the children. When I remember that I spend my day discussing stories, sentences, single words rather than what I did in the factories, offices and sheds of my young adulthood, I'm thankful.

What is your best classroom moment

When you're doing it right, it becomes shared play. When your boys are actively discussing, taking ownership of a challenging task, being generous with each other, sharing their works honestly, trusting each other with their fragile forms, smiling, offering insights the adult in the room hadn't recognised or even contemplated, and you can sit back and observe them at play, these are the best moments in the classroom. And when they exit, they comment "that was a great lesson", genuinely, productively, these are the best moments.Replace this text with your own text
