Dr Sherilyn Lennon

Sherilyn is the convenor of the Secondary English curriculum courses at Griffith University's School of Education and Professional Studies. Prior to her appointment at Griffith, Sherilyn spent nearly three decades working as an English teacher and Head of Department in outback Queensland.  Here she developed a wide and deep knowledge of issues relating to boys' disengagement from schooling. Sherilyn's book, Unsettling Research (2015), examines what is possible when an educator working from within her community sets out to make visible and unsettle gender beliefs and practices that limit schooling performances and, ultimately, students' lives. She has received numerous awards for her research including the DVC (Research and Innovation) award for excellence in doctoral research.
