Annual State Conference, 2016

The Annual State Conference will be held on Saturday 13th August, 2016 at Lourdes Hill College, 86 Hawthorne Road, HAWTHORNE.

Unfortunately, we have to cancel Workshop 2K "Read, read, read: building stamina and skills for reading". If you had selected this workshop as your first preference in session 2, you will be automatically allocated to your second preference.

The theme of this year's conference is Seeing the World Anew: English Teaching and Learning in Changing times.

Keynote addresses will be presented by Professor Wayne Sawyer, Western Sydney University and Professor Garry Crew, Sunshine Coast University. 

Professor Crew's topic is Reading the Invisible Visual.

First registrant on Corporate membership   $143

Other registrants on Corporate membership   $154

F/T Student and retiree   $66

Drink and nibbles on the balconyfrom 5pm - 6pm   $15 per person. Everyone who is coming for drinks should register. The drinks are not included in the registration fee.

The Jim Buckley Memorial Scholarship is offered each year in recognition of Jim's outstanding contribution to ETAQ over 20 years as Treasurer and Administration Officer. This scholarship is offered to  country and regional  members to assist them  to attend. It provides complimentary registration and $200 towards travel and/or accommodation. Applications to Fiona Laing flain1@eq.edu.au by Sunday 17 July. A metropolitan student studying English education may be offered complimentary registration.  In all cases, preference will be given to personal members of ETAQ.

Submissions are called from people willing to share their professional work with participants via presentations/workshops. The Date Claimer and Call for Presenters which gives the details is now available. Submissions would be appreciated by Friday 10 June, 2016
