ETAQ E-pistle 15-10

Workshops for ETAQ State Conference
There are still opportunities available for members to share and showcase their work by presenting a workshop session at this year’s ETAQ State Conference.
The conference will be run at the Anglican Church Grammar School at East Brisbane over the weekend 14-15 August and, with the theme “English in the era of the Australian Curriculum”, most workshop sessions that people might be interested in running could be accommodated.
The Call for Presenters form can be downloaded from the Events page of the ETAQ website at http://www.etaq.org.au/?page_id=106 .
Sessions on the Saturday will be 1 hour while the Sunday morning program will have two 90 minute time slots.
For the program, prospective presenters will need to provide a title, an abstract and a brief bio.
Ideally, we’d like detailed proposals by Saturday 26 June. However, if the end-of-term rush won’t enable you to meet that, an extension is possible if you advise us of your interest in offering a session. Send an email to Fiona Laing (flain1@eq.edu.au ) by Saturday and the details could be provided a little later
Shouldn’t you have a conference presentation on your CV?

Draft Australian Curriculum in English for Years 11 & 12
Have your say!
If you’re in Brisbane and have some time free next Monday afternoon, you might like to have your say at a meeting to discuss ACARA’s draft Australian Curriculum in English for Years 11 & 12.
The meeting will be held from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm on Monday 28 June in Meeting Room 1 at the Brisbane City Council library at Chermside. The lbrary is accessed from Hamilton Road just near the shoppoing centre on the corner of Gympie and Hamilton Roads.
If you’re able to attend, please email me at gazco48@bigpond.net.au .
The draft curriculum material is available on ACARA’s consultation portal at www.australiancurriculum.edu.au and the consultation period is scheduled to close at the end of July.

Interesting conjecture
Now that Julia Gillard is to be the Prime Minister I wonder who the new federal Minister for Education will be.
